Etnografski muzej Istre / The Ethnographic Museum of Istria

Uz  mnoge  tradicionalne likove postav nudi prezentaciju i onih suvremenijih poput Turističkog djelatnika i Iseljenika.

The Ethnographic Museum of Istria is located within Pazinski Kaštel, the medieval fortress rising above the gorge called the Pazin Pit. In its long history, the castle served as the administrative center as well as the defensive fort, and at a time it was also a prison. Since 1962, it houses the Ethnographic Museum of Istria.

The idea behind the exhibition was to present Istria and all of its cultural and social diversities, therefore, interpretation units focus of real historic persons that serve as guides through each of the themes and in this way allow the visitors to engage in personal interaction with the content. Following the first part of the exhibition, in which Istria is presented through various geographical facts, the exhibition features interpretations of different real-life situations following the destinies of the people who inhabited different parts of Istria in the last hundred odd years. Each of the units i.e. rooms brings two topics or two characters and allows different kinds of interaction whose purpose is to establish a channel of communication between the visitors and the content.

Some of the featured characters include the Winemaker of Momjan who teaches the visitors about grape varieties and traditional music, then there is the Fisherman of Fažana who tells the story of fish conservation techniques, while the Child of Motovun invites the visitors for a round of Belle Statuine, a traditional children’s game.

Alongside many traditional characters, the exhibition includes more contemporary ones, such as the Tourist Office and the Emigrant.
